A Welcome Morning Sunrise

6:54

6:56

I was up just as the sun was beginning to rise at 6:55 and now, at 7:33, there's haze off Tom's Point and the Bemus shoreline. The sky is partly cloudy,  with a light wind and 43º. By mid-afternoon, it should get up to a toasty 67º.

Sunday was a fun day, sort of, as the morning was full. It began with a relaxing coffee early, then a good paddle on an overcast morning and calm lake. When I returned home, we finished up the blog and were in no hurry to do anything. By 11:00, we were ready, however, to drive over to the Marina and walk out to Long Point and back, an easy hike of just about a mile. We were surprised at how low the lake seemed, especially at the rocky point. Usually, the rocks are underwater. We had the point to ourselves except for one couple, walking their dog although the marina parking lot was filled with trailers for fishing boats.

Late Afternoon Sun

We were home by 12:30 and Evie fried up some potatoes and eggs for breakfast and I watched the lead-up to Caitlin Clark's Iowa/Ohio State basketball game. What hype, amazing for women's basketball although she does set a record for points scored in a career, surpassing Pete Maravich. Eventually, the game began and I watched it in two parts. First, after the first quarter, I went and read some and napped, returning to watching the last three quarters as Iowa defeated Ohio State and Caitlin set the scoring record. It's great for women's basketball, for all the little girls out there who hope to play someday. After the game, I watched some other games for a few minutes and returned to my book until 5:00, when I showered and got ready to drive to Linda and Ron's for Sunday night dinner.

Kitchen Sisters

Linda had appetizers ready, of course, a cheesy fondue for dipping French bread slices. It was yummy, especially along with a nice sauvignon blanc, our favorite. We have decided to simplify dinners, nothing too fancy or difficult. So Linda served a delicious soup, with sausage, gnocchi, and veggies, a salad, and homemade bread. It was delicious and so filling that we skipped dessert.  It was a nice way to start or end the week. We were home by 9:45 and decided to skip TV and go to bed, tired from our day.
