Post Grandson Blues

A Great Blue

It's 8:50, Evie's up, and I just returned from an hour on the lake, brisk, sunny morning on the lake.  A few fishing boats are out but that's it, no kayaks, no skiers as fall has begun.  I changed my route, starting south and had good luck with seeing herons, an osprey, and a hawk.  It made my morning.

Morning Blue

Yesterday we said goodbye to Tyler at 10:00 and as always after family leaves, we find ourselves at a loss, wondering what to do now that we are alone.  And, as always, we find that cleaning the house, giving the bedroom a straightening up, changing the sheets, getting the house back in order centers our life.  It did not take long to get the house back in order.  We then took on another task, trying to fix the leak in the ice maker hose to no avail so far.  I guess I will be going down in the crawl space again this morning, turning on the water, hoping we can see where the hose leaks so we can fix it with a special plumbing tape.

After quick organizing, we decided on a walk at Long Point State Park, a good choice. The leaves are just starting to turn, the trails were still green, however, and the sun and light wind made for a great day for a walk.  We met a few families out for a walk like us, kids racing back and forth, enjoying being out of the house.  We had a semi-big breakfast when we got home, eggs on toast, no bacon this time. It was just right.  I watched some football before getting back to my book and taking a short nap.  Evie tried the dock but the wind had picked up so she did not last too long.

The afternoon went quickly, however, and before we knew it, it was wine time.  Unfortunately, it was too cool to sit on our front porch again, so we had our wine in our living room, with chips and salsa, talking about what a fun week we had we our grandson.  He's a special kid.  Neither of us was that hungry, so we had peameal bacon sandwiches, with mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes, and a couple of ears of corn.  It was just right, especially when topped off with a piece of carrot cake.  We watched Bill Maher, some of the news programs, and some basketball before going up to bed.
