It's 7:30 and I have exhausted both the NYTimes and Washington Post, Facebook, and a couple of podcasts as it continues to rain outside, The house is quiet except for the wind chimes and rain on the roof. A number of bass boats dot the lake as there must be a tournament because they came shooting out of the Long Point Marina at 7:00. If they can fish, I can kayak. Maybe. I just checked outside and although it does not look like it, it's raining fairly hard so I guess I am stuck inside for the time being. It's 8:00 and I am tired of listening to the news so I will get back to my book until someone gets up. Well, I waited long enough for the rain to stop and got in a half-hour paddle, not much to see.

A Gray Kayak Morning On A Choppy Lake |
Yesterday was Day Two with our grandson Tyler, his having arrived Friday night. As usual, I got in my kayaking and by the time I returned, to my surprise, both Tyler and Evie were up, ready for their morning coffee. Evie is not usually communicative during coffee so Tyler was driving her crazy with his talk about food, running, and his daily schedule. I had to laugh. Once everyone had their coffee and some breakfast (Tyler fried up a couple of eggs), we cleaned up the kitchen and gathered the trash. On my way to the Transfer Station, I took Tyler on a tour of a couple of 7 or 8 mile runs, his average most days although they were quite hilly. We dropped off the trash, came home and Tyler decided to take a more familiar run through Bemus Point and Long Point State Park, a good choice for his first full day with us.
He was home by noon and by then, I was ready for lunch, some of Friday night's leftover dinner. Tyler and I shared it and Evie enjoyed a leisurely morning in the side yard. I then took a nap, having once again gotten up too early and Tyler went kayaking,

Kayak Afternoon |

Heading Home |
Evie was on the dock to enjoy the sun and cool afternoon. I joined them just as Tyler was returned from his paddle. We joined Evie on the dock and Tyler went for his first swim, completing his abbreviated Triathalon, a run, paddle, and swim, more like a dunk. We stayed out on the dock, sucking up some of the sun's warmth. We then went in, Tyler showered, and we got ready to drive to the Big Inlet Brewery to listen to a band, The Probables, enjoy a beer and sit outside.

Big Inlet Farm Brewery |
The Big Inlet parking lot was packed so we had to struggle to not only find a place to park, but a table to sit down. Finally, off in the far corner of the grassy area, we found an empty picnic table which just happened to be next to a number of our neighbors, also out to enjoy the afternoon, We wore masks when standing, ordered our beers, then sat down and enjoyed them, spending a good amount of time talking with neighbors, hardly listening to the band which was fine because Tyler was not crazy about them. He has very definite musical tastes, plays the guitar, and has been putting together his own band although it has been interrupted by the Covid19 virus. We took a ten-minute drive through the hills of Amish country, then stopped briefly at Linda and Ron's. They volunteered to lend Tyler a bike during his stay so we could go on some bike rides while he is here.

Granny And Tyler At Big Inlet |
All three of us were loggy from drinking beers in the afternoon, something none of us like to do but that's when the band was playing. So we sat around, almost dozing, listening to music, on our phones or computers until we finally got our mojo back around 6:30. Evie and Tyler began to prep our dinner, salmon marinated in soy and maple syrup, garlic spinach, and a salad, with lots of goodies, including asparagus and fresh sweet corn. Tyler loved the dinner which made Evie happy. He went back for seconds, saved all our leftover salads for late evening snacks. We were ready to get back to our series, Messiah, as all three of us suggested possible scenarios to what was actually going on, from a scam to the actual second coming of Jesus. We watched three more episodes and still are not sure what's going on although I think it's the second coming of Jesus, a radical peacenik, of unknown origins, and charismatic, with devout followers all over the world. The CIA and FBI have arrested him, and he will eventually be crucified, killed in some way by the establishment. That's my guess.
