A mostly gray sky but an absolutely calm lake greets me this morning as I sit outside on our porch. I can hear the birds, the squeaking of either geese or herons and a merganser is sitting on our neighbor's dock, enjoying the morning. It's after 9:30 and I had a great hour and a half paddle, over to Tom's Point, across to Lakeside Drive, along Bemus Bay to Long Point, across to Sandy Bottom, and home. The best part, however, was viewing a single eagle at the marina woods, and then two in the trees at Sandy Bottom.

Yesterday was a busy day for both of us. I got in a quick forty-five-minute paddle, had breakfast, wrote the blog and was off to yoga by 9:10. It was the usual group of gals, six of us, and then I went off to Wegman's to do a mega shopping tour, thirty-seven items on my phone, compliments of my dear wife. And check out was crowded because it was 5% Tuesday to make it even more time-consuming. On the way home, I stopped and gassed up the Outback for the first time in a month. I came home to an empty house because Evie was on a field trip to the Audubon with her kindergarten class. I am glad it was her and not me, with a couple of classes of 5 and 6-year-olds. I made my lunch, heating up the black bean soup and that was enough for me.
By 1:15 I was on my way to Jamestown for an appointment with my gastroenterologist, a follow-up on my endoscopy. Everything is fine and we spent the appointment talking about her horse farm and the tulip festival in Clymer, her daughter up for the Tulip Queen. I rewarded myself by stopping at Tim Hortons downtown, a gathering place for what looks like the homeless or destitute, and bought a coffee and donut. Jamestown feels and looks like a different world from our neighborhood and township.
Evie was home around 3:00, relaxed for a half hour, then decided to mow the lawn, getting her steps in. It took her only 45 minutes and she did not want my help....superwoman. We then enjoyed our wine on the front porch before she put together our delicious dinner, curried chicken with mushrooms and broccoli. We watched the first ten minutes of Caitlin Clark's debut. She struggled yet scored 20 points and it's clear she is going to be good. We then watched a Colbert, and some HGTV before Evie went up to bed and I watched a few minutes of the Nuggets/ Timberwolves game.
