A Sunny, Blue Sky Start To Labor Day Weekend

6:53

It's 9:06 and I just returned from an hour's paddle, running into Tina and Jim, and a couple of cormorants, sitting on a dock and herons one in the trees, the other on our next-door neighbor's dock. I have been up since 6:45 and didn't get out on the lake until 7:45. Because of the weekend, the lake has been busier than usual.

Friday was another good day, starting with a long paddle, a couple of good photos of birds. Because I did not have yoga, we took our time with coffee and finishing up the blog. Afterward, Evie suggested we go for a walk around the Chautauqua Institution, a good idea. So around 10:30 we were off, parked our car at the south gate and walked for about an hour, admiring the Victorian beauty of the streets, reminding us of a movie set. The colors are at their peak, waiting for autumn to come and bring different hues. It was a good way to spend the morning.

We then had an easy afternoon, not wanting to do much because we were going out to dinner. So Evie made me an egg, tomato and cheese omelet with toast, and I watched my show, read some, and napped while Evie luxuriated in the side yards sun and breeze. For once, we felt no guilt just doing nothing. By :00, we were showering and getting ready to go out. We met our friends, Fred and Judy, picked up Wendy at Chautauqua Shores and they then drove to our restaurant in West Erie.

Together Again

We met other friends from Erie, Cle and Penny, at their favorite restaurant, an Italian place called Colao's, set in an old, Italian neighborhood. It may be our favorite restaurant, with a great bar, booths, and tables, all nicely decorated and the menu was extensive and good. The five of us even ordered dessert. The only downside was it was a forty-five minute drive but it was worth it. We were home by 9:30, happy with a great evening of food and conversation. We wonder why we don't get together more often!
