Windy, Cool, And Overcast

6:35

8:16

Well, it's not a very inviting morning for a paddle, lots of wind, a chance of rain, and a very fall-like morning. It's 58º and we received a bit of rain overnight, not much really. It looks threatening now but the weather apps suggest it's not going to rain. It's after 9:00 and I decided to skip kayaking because of the wind and threatening sky.

Yesterday was a seemingly long day, with lots of clouds, some rain, and lots of leisure. I did get in a paddle for close to an hour on a fine morning. When I got home, I finished the blog and was not sure what  I wanted to do with the rest of the morning, Finally, I was bored enough to drive off to Lakewood, hoping to have coffee with a couple of buddies. Both were sitting on the porch of Ryders Cup, regulars usually around 10:00. We enjoyed our coffee and talked until the coming rain, perhaps storms sent them home to close windows.

Fortunately, the storms that rock the East Coast did not touch us. We did get a bit of rain on and off during the afternoon and evening but nothing substantial. I had the leftover pasta with mushrooms and sausage for lunch, watched my show, and napped, the usual. Neither of us had much gumption so we lounged on couches, reading or watching TV until late afternoon when we showered and headed over to Linda and Ron's for dinner.

Dining With Friends

It was pleasant sitting on their front porch, enjoying wine and appetizers, as the warm afternoon began to cool. By 7:15, we were enjoying a great dinner, racks of lamb, a delicious, cold potato salad, a green salad, and bread. Neither of us has had lamb in quite a while so it was a treat. Linda ended the dinner with a lemon custard dessert, a perfect palate cleanser. We didn't get home until almost 10:00 and instead of watching TV, both of us were ready for bed, tired from doing little during the day, other than looking forward to our dinner at Linda and Ron's.
