A Great Afternoon For A Party

It's 7:20 here in Virginia and everyone is still asleep. It's another sunny morning, already a warm 59º, with the high today around 88º. I don't expect anyone up soon since I woke up last night around 1:30 and either Jill, Halle, or Hayden and friends were still up, in the yard around the fire pit. It's 10:00 and all four of us are finally up, enjoying coffee and talking about our great night.

Halle And Granny

Yesterday was a busy day, mostly because of getting things ready for the graduation party for both Halle and her cousin, Carly. Drew and I were up early, of course, enjoying our coffee and watching ESPN until the girls got up. Once everyone was fortified with their coffee, dressed, and ready to roll, things began to happen. Much of the planning was already done but the yard had to be gotten ready, a banner hung, chairs, drinks, and tables gotten ready for later. Fortunately, we had to make only one trip to the stores, to pick up ice, firewood, and balloons. Drew's brother-in-law and son also stopped over to help get things done which was great. By 1:00, the tables were ready for the food, the ice and drinks were in the coolers, and the sangria was made so all we had to do was relax and wait for 3:00 when the food would arrive along with the first partygoers. I was able to read some and take a nap before showering after Evie and getting ready for the fun.

The Housewives Of Bristow AND STILL HOT!!!

Family, the cousins and aunts and uncles on Drew's side arrived first, then other adult friends, and finally the friends of the girls. Everyone seemed hungry which surprised me so by 4:30, there was a line in the dining room. The food was great, both beef and chicken barbecue, stuffed shells, two kinds of beans, coleslaw, and dessert. From 5:00 on, friends of Halle and Carly kept arriving, as well as adult friends of Jill and Drew. Drinks and food went fast and fortunately, by 6:30 or 7:00, it began to cool down and most of us were able to enjoy being in the yard. Cornhole and other games began, and more ice and wine were needed and brought in, as the party progressed. Once the sun ebbed, it was a perfect early and late evening for enjoying the outdoors, with friends, and family. Drew built a fire for the guys, the gals seemed to gather around the patio, and Halle, Hayden, and friends gathered both in the house and outdoors. My sister, Ellen stopped over, so Evie and I were able to spend time with her.

Halle And Chase (off to Wittenberg to play football, Chase I mean)

By 10:00, things were beginning to slow down and the kids were slowly drifting off to other parties and the hard-core friends of Jill and Drew gathered around the fire until late. Evie and I were tired by 10:00, the old smoothies, and went to bed to read and sleep. It was a busy but fun day and we loved seeing all of Halle, Hayden, and Carly's friends, most all dolled up for the day.
