Overcast And A Spring Like 50º

6:35

9:12

It's Monday and the lake is practically empty, at least I can't see any boats. It's the first morning in quite a while where the sun is partially hidden behind clouds, rather than filling our living room with its light. This week promises to be more like June weather, with highs in the 70s. It's 9:00 and I was out for over an hour on a chilly morning even though I was wearing a fleece. I ran into Tina and Jim, also out  for a paddle, and we talked for a good ten minutes, in no hurry to get home,

Kayak Morning

9:12

Yesterday started out with a good paddle despite the southerly wind. It just felt good to be out on the lake. It was also a quiet morning on the lake although the traffic picked up some. After breakfast and the blog, Evie wanted to stay home and continue watering dry areas but I wanted to get in a walk so I drove off to the Chautauqua Institution and walked for forty-five minutes. The place is slowly becoming alive as the opening day is a couple of weeks off.

When I returned, Evie was finished with her watering and volunteered to make my breakfast, home fries, and eggs, yum. I  then read some, napped while Evie sat in the side yard and talked with our neighbors while their house was with the realtor. The afternoon seemed to go quickly. Around 5:00, however, our neighbor brought her two grandchildren over for a visit, much to Evie's delight. They played in the front yard, chasing balloons Evie would blow up and shoot into the sky.

Our Neighbor, Debi, And Her Grandsons. Arlo and Louie

By 6:00, we were on our way to Linda and Ron's house for Sunday dinner, Yippee. It was just warm enough to sit out on the porch for appetizers and a glass of wine. As usual, we caught up on each other's miseries before we vowed to stop it. Dinner was amazing, as usual, salmon baked in parchment with asparagus and lemon, along with a salad. We sat around the table talking until we moved to the kitchen for a French dessert, fruit, and cheese, a perfect ending to our meal. We were home by 9:30 and both of us were tired enough to head up to bed.
