Windy, Gray, And Wet

7:31

8:32

It's 8:15 and I have been up for an hour, listening to the howling wind, and watching the waves crash on our shoreline. It's going to be this way all day so we will be hunkering down in our cozy house, enjoying a Saturday of leisure with no kayaking or hiking. It may get up into the 50s later in the day and snow is predicted early next week.

A Bleak Webb's Trail

Unlike this morning, Friday morning was fine and I was able to get in a long paddle on a chilly morning. After a paddle, the blog, and breakfast, we got a few things done but then decided on walking Webb's Trail in Mayville, a good choice. Although the trees are still bare, the path brown with leaves and devoid of snow, we were struck by the beauty of the sparseness of Spring. Just as we were about to turn around and head back, we glimpsed something white crossing the road and realizing it was an albino squirrel.

An Albino Squirrel

We followed him as he climbed and sat up in a tree. Wow. We hope to take this walk each week and photograph the changes during Spring.  We were out for an hour, just right, and stopped at the Lighthouse Grocery for a chicken salad sub and bananas (Evie was going to make a banana cake).

Beauty Of Spring

We were home just after noon so I had my lunch, half of the sub, and watched my show. Evie charged the car while I was eating and two hours later, it was good to go on a battery. So far, we don't mind charging it every couple of days. I had my typical afternoon, then, of reading my book, napping, and watching some TV. Evie was busy while I read making our dinner, using the air fryer to cook some eggplant, and putting together an eggplant lasagna. By 5:00, however, we were both hunkering for a dessert so while I cleaned up the kitchen, Evie put together the ingredients for the banana cake and put it in the oven for forty-five minutes. While it baked, we enjoyed a glass or two of wine as the day began to wane.

Our dinner was great along with some garlic bread and a glass of red wine. We were not sure what to watch but Barb and Jim mentioned an older film they loved called Pirate Radio so we watched it on AppleTV. It's a fun film based on facts.  In the 1960s, Great Britain was attempting to control the airways and ban listening to Rock Music. The pirate ship stepped in and was able to broadcast since they were at sea. The soundtrack was also great. After the film, we watched some March Madness although few of the teams were of much interest to me for some reason.
