Frosted Trees At Warner Bay

8:24

Well, I am glad I was up before 6:00 because this morning's sky was amazing. I was up and down for the past hour as the sky kept getting more striking. And I will not be kayaking as the first twenty yards is covered with chunks of floating ice. Beyond, the lake is flowing south, ruffled and gray. We also received seven or eight inches of snow overnight, frosting the trees and bushes, It's a cold morning, 26ยบ, and the plow guy has just cleared out the road although it probably does not need it. He needs the cash. It's only 8:20 and I have been out shoveling at least eight inches of snow off our driveway and car for a half hour. It's beautiful out, trees frosted, the sky a brilliant blue. Finally, a winter morning,

Yesterday turned out to be a good day for a couple of reasons I will go into later in the blog. I was able to get in a good paddle because of the calm lake, and kayaked over to Long Point and back, something I don't usually do this time of the year because of the cold. We were going to head to the Kia dealer but decided to give it one last try to charge our car. So I pulled it within ten feet of our porch and tried the 220 chargers without the extension cord and viola, and the car began charging. So for some reason, using the extension cord was the problem. And it took only an hour and a half to fully charge the battery. Yippee, we did not need to drive to the dealer.

A Walk In The Campground

It was a crisp but gray morning but both of us wanted to get in a walk. So we bundled up and for the first time in a couple of years, we took a walk through the empty campground. It was fun to walk through it once again, and we were out for just about an hour. We were home in time for lunch. Evie made me a veggie wrap with hummus, avocadoes, and cucumbers which was just right. I began watching a series on Apple TV+ called Shantaram. It's based on a 2003 936-page novel that I remember reading and loving for its setting in Mumbai (Bombay). Both of us were happy because we figured out how to charge our Kia so we really wasted the afternoon, by couching it and reading, napping or watching TV.

Beginning To Snow At 6:05

More Morning Photos

Around 4:30, we realized we were going to get a snowstorm around 6:00 which we love so we decided to celebrate both the snowstorm and our car problem solved with a Manhattan and nachos. It was a good choice and we loved watching the snow fall out our living room window. Fortunately, dinner was easy, heating up the leftover Santa Fe chicken for dinner, then having the tre leches cake with whipped cream for dessert. We watched a couple of shows, Hometown and Jeopardy, then the Cavs as they defeated the Celtics in overtime. A good day.
