8:30 |
It's 7:30 and the lake does not look very inviting. It's hard to tell how windy it is because close to shore it looks calm but out a way, ruffled. Both the sky and lake are dark gray, giving the lake a gloomy, Halloween-like feel although the sun has yet to rise. Well, it's 8:30 and I got out on the lake for a half hour, a light wind from the north but not a problem. I saw nothing of interest, only the geese and mallards, hanging out along the shoreline.

Kayak Morning |

North |
Yesterday was similar to today, cloudy, and windy with a light drizzle on and off during the day. I skipped kayaking because of the wind although I gave it a try. So it was a long morning for me, waiting for something to do. Finally, around 11:30, we both found the mojo to go for a walk around the Chautauqua Institution. We timed it well as it did not rain and the walk was delightful, especially the fall colors even on a gray day. We were out for an hour and the grounds were practically empty.

When we got home, Evie made breakfast, eggs, and toast and we watched some football, the Browns/San Francisco's first half. Then I decided to read and nap, having the game taped. I skipped the taping to the end and watched the Browns win on a missed San Francisco field goal. Go Browns. Around 4:00, Evie got out the scissors and electric razor and gave me a much-needed shearing. We both showered and by 6:00, were on our way to Linda and Ron's for our Sunday dinner.

Sunday Dinner |
We had appetizers and wine around their new table in the kitchen, catching up on the news, local and not national. too depressing. Dinner began with a Tuscan soup, with gnocchi, sausage, and bacon, a tasty combination. Our main course was Linda's special crust pizza with lots of toppings, the way all four of us liked it. We had dessert, a chocolate sunday with cookies in the TV room, and watched most of the first half of the Bills game. We were home by 9:30, both too tired to watch the Bill's second half and ready for bed.
