Overcast And Coolish

Monday Morning From Our Living Room

6:09
We are sitting in our living room at 8:10, trying to figure out if it's going to rain or not, something Evie needs for her garden.  The forecast seems to change every half hour.  I did get in a paddle, on a fairly windy, overcast morning. Not much to see other than gray clouds and lake, no waterfowl to speak of, no herons, geese, or ducks.

Kayak Morning
Monday was an interesting day in that we did not have a lot to do but managed to find something, as always.  I paddled, wrote the blog, had breakfast, then drove off to Mike's Nursery to pick up some cosmos, my favorite annual, although we have not had good luck with them.  It's nice to see him doing well, always five or six cars are parked outside his door.

When I returned home, Evie had been busy, cleaning a few spots on our new carpet.  Unlike our old one in which anything that dripped on it. just blended in, this one shows a spill.  Fortunately, it cleans up well.  Before my lunch, I filled the wheelbarrow up with compost from the past winter, so Evie could disperse it around the perennials and dahlias.  I finished up the tas kebab and mashed potatoes for lunch, watched Bosch, then read and napped.

I joined Evie out in the yard around 2:30 and we both stayed out there for at least two hours, reading and enjoying the afternoon sun.  I finished my book, Writers and Lovers and loved it, a great read.  By 5:00, we had enough sitting around so we worked in the garden again, putting in the cosmos, and moving some plants.  I also filled the wheelbarrow up with the last of the compost and spread it around, finishing it off.

Around 6:30, Evie browned some ground beef, added the taco seasoning, warmed up the taco shells, and got out the condiments for our taco salad, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, taco sauce and of course sour cream.  We ate watching the scary reporting of all the disruption in cities across the US until we treated to a dose of *Trump-speak.  As usual, he was bullying, with no understanding or empathy. He then had the protesters cleared from in front of the Whtie House with tear gas and police mounted on horses so he could walk to the church nearby for a ridiculous photo op, surrounded by his enablers. A novelist could not make this up.  We had enough by 7:30 and turned to our safe haven,  TV shows like HomeTown, and Better Call Saul.

Trump-speak:  a “constant stream of exaggerated, invented, boastful, purposely outrageous, spiteful, inconsistent, dubious and false claims.”  Perfect
