Chillin On A 47º Morning

My Beautiful Wife's Windswept Look

I woke up to fog rising on the lake, a cold morning, and a sunrise.  All is good here at Chautauqua Lake.  I paddled for almost an hour, my usual: Woodlawn, Long Point, Sandy Bottom and home.  I ran into Jim just starting out with Tina and our neighbors were also out skiing.  It's a quiet morning on the lake, perfect for kayaking and water skiing.

Kayak Morning
Morning Mallards
Sunday's don't change much for us. I kayaked earlier, wrote the blog, and had a smoothie.  We were not sure what to do with our day, perhaps a boat ride, some catching up on the yard, and doing some painting.  I threw in a bike ride and took off to ride the Chautauqua Institution which is, sadly, quiet and empty except for a few residents.  It was an easy pedaling, just a few residents out walking.  When I returned home, Evie had done some painting of a couple of our plastic chairs and they were out drying.

Lunch Time Sky
We debated whether to have lunch on the boat but decided it was too windy so Evie made us a couple of fried eggs on avocado toast and we sat on the front porch, enjoying the sunny morning.  We basically relaxed the rest of the afternoon.  I napped, then joined Evie in the front yard, basking in the sun and cool weather.  Around 4:00, we decided to go for a cruise, a big mistake.  We ended up braving winds and a choppy lake, going beyond the bridge and back.  It was not much fun and Evie's hair proves it.

We decided to treat ourselves to a nice cold beer or two on the porch as a result, with pistachios, pretzels, and hummus.  And, of course, as we sat there, the lake calmed down and we should have been out there rather than earlier,  It's interesting how busy Long Point has become since the lockdown.  People seemed to have discovered the parks, a result of getting outside and walking,. We had the leftover beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy for dinner, straight out of a diner and watched more of Better Call Saul and Cheers.
