A Bright Sun Shiny Lake

Evie's Garden, Early Morning

It's just turned 8:00 and I am already tired, having gotten up at 5:15, then paddling for close to an hour and a half, over to Warner Bay, to Long Point, to Sandy Bottom and home.  I was able, however, to sit on the front porch for forty-five minutes, until the sunrise at 6:00, making it impossible to sit out.

Kayak Morning
Heron Perched In A Tree
Yesterday started out with a gray, overcast morning sky which gave way, mid-morning to sun and blue skies.  Because we were driving to Erie for Evie's doctor's appointment, we did not get much done in the morning, mainly wash for Evie and dishes and reading for me.  I had an early lunch, finished off the hoagie and we were heading to Erie by 12:40.  Evie's appointment was a 1:30 and she was back in the car by 1:40.  We then drove to Stan's Garden Center, on Buffalo Street, the parking lot packed with gardeners like us.  This is the third time we have been there in the past month and every time the lot has been full.  We needed something to fill a bare spot in the garden so we ended up coming up with more coneflowers, one of our favorite perennials.  One of the advantages of going to Erie is stopping at the Northeast Exit on 90 for a homemade cherry pie at Orton's Farm Market.  The pie had just come out of the oven so we had to leave the box lid off to let it cool.  Yum

When we returned home, we relaxed and I actually fell asleep on the couch reading, having missed my nap.  Around 5:00, we sat on the dock with a beer, watching the lake get busy.  We soon decided it was to nice not to be out on the lake so we grabbed another beer and went for a cruise down to Prendergast Point and back.  We noticed a group of boats tied together just off of Long Point, overflowing with what looked like high school students.  And also laughed when we saw a huge pontoon boat, filled with at least twelve college guys, shirts off, just cruising the lake.  With no high school, no colleges, no jobs, the kids will play.  I don't blame them.

Summer Fun
Dinner took 15 minutes to make, a salad and heat up the chicken enchiladas from Wednesday nights dinner.  They tasted even better a couple of days old.  We watched a boring Colbert, took time out for cherry pie a la mode,  then a couple of Better Call Sauls before bed.
