All Is Gray

Bald Eagle

7:15

It's just after 9:00 and I enjoyed a 55-minute paddle, on a quiet, gray morning. I was able to shoot a couple of different herons and an eagle, probably the same one in two different trees. We received quite a bit of rain over the past 12 hours, close to three inches or more. Evie's garden loves it.

Yesterday was a good day, our 57th anniversary and we did just what we wanted. I got in a paddle before writing the blog and breakfast. We then planned our day. Evie wanted to stay home and enjoy putting together a peach pie for our dessert. I decided to get in a bike ride in Mayville and rode Webbs Trail running into friends, Joe and his wife, out for a Sunday walk. I was out for just about an hour, just right and then stopped at Tops to pick up a few things and Nutty Buddies, a treat for my bride, the big spender!

Webb's Trail

When I got home, the kitchen smelled delicious, as the pie was baking and Evie was relaxing on the front porch, reading her book. I quickly did up some of the dishes and Evie made us our breakfast, a Turkish omelet with tomatoes and feta cheese along with a bagel. We ate on the front porch as the sky was beginning to turn because the rain was expected late afternoon. I then read and napped and when I woke, Evie was making our special dinner, pork, and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes. Yum.

Stormy Weather

We decided to enjoy a Manhattan and cheese and crackers on our front porch and were rewarded with a heavy storm for about an hour, dropping more than two inches of rain. We both love to sit on our porch during storms.

After The Deluge

By 5:30, the storm had passed and the sun had come out. We were hungry by 7:00 and dinner was basically done so all Evie had to do was serve it up. It was just as good as we wanted and I had seconds and we even have enough leftover for another night. We watched a couple of shows, then ended the night with Real Time With Bill Maher. It may not have seemed like an exciting day but it was just what we wanted.
