Slowing Down

Raindrops On Dahlias Whiskers On Kittens

Breakfasting At 6:40

It's a gray, rainy morning, actually a pleasant change from the past week of amazingly sunny days. Yep, we like wet and cloudy days but not too many. It's still warm, 68º and it looks like the next couple of days will be warm and muggy. I am still hoping to get in a paddle in-between showers this morning. Well, I had good timing, getting in a 50-minute paddle just as the rain stopped. It's now 8:53 and the chainsaws have been growning since 8:00 but it didn't bother the girls because all three are still sleeping.

Yesterday was an easy and quiet day, mostly because there were just four of us. I paddled early for a good hour and a half, had breakfast, and waited for Evie to get up until 9:15. We were in no hurry to do anything and decided to walk the Chautauqua Institution because it was Sunday and no gate pass is needed. Evie and I let Beth and Marisa power walk for forty-five minutes while we just took it easy, not wanting to do too much because of the heat and humidity. It was crowded as usual, the amphitheater packed to hear the Sunday morning sermon. It's an amazing place during the summer, crowded with golden agers like us. We left about 12:30, came home and while Evie made breakfast, with the leftover garlic potatoes, peameal bacon, and eggs, the girls and I rolled up our blue water mat and put it away in the garage for the winter. I also put the cover on the boat because I knew rain was coming.

Breakfast was a highlight of the day, the eggs on top of the garlic fries, with a slab of peameal bacon next to it. We were a happy foursome. The rest of the day we just hung out like Saturday, reading, on our devices, napping or for Evie, doing laundry, the sheets and towels from the past week, an all-day affair.

Ah Youth

Fortunately, we were going out to dinner so by 6:00 we were in the car, driving to Paces Pizza inn Jamestown. We were lucky to get a table because it was so busy. We ordered a nice bottle of Chianti along with salads and pizza but had a good half-hour wait for our pizza but it was worth it. Pace's pizza is the best around in our minds. Marisa was even able to get a pizza with a cauliflower crust so we were all happy. We were home by 8:30 in time to watch an episode of Inventing Anna on Netflix before going up to be earlier than usual.
