6:10

It's 6:15, the sun has risen, and we are now at 15, with Tom and Mary's arrival yesterday afternoon, having flown in from Kansas City. It's going to be a warm one, 59ยบ already and get up into the 80s, a good dock and swimming day. It's 8:50 and I kayaked for an hour and now, six of us our up. Evie, however, is still asleep (the little engine that runs this show) which is good. Once she's up, she will go through too many photos and pick out the ones that are blog-worthy. I apologize for all the photos but we are having so much fun taking them and putting them on the blog.

Sunday was a busy and fun day, spent mostly in the yard, on the dock, or in the boat. As usual, I was the first one up, then Evie joined me for coffee. I then, kayaked for an hour running into our friends Tina and Jim, up for the weekend. When I returned, the adults were up, enjoying a coffee and reading on their devices. I supposed 25 years ago they would be reading the Sunday newspaper. My son-in-law Drew wanted to go for a bike ride on his dirt bike so we drove over to Bemus Point, parked his car, and rode my usual route, along Lakeside Drive, around Long Point Park to Long Point and back. He usually took off, then waited for me before entering the park, then, rode the special fat tire bike trails while I stayed on the main trail and met him when we biked to the point, then back in Bemus. We were out for an hour and he loved it.

Beth and five of the grandchildren drove to Lakewood and worked out at Planet Fitness, then did some shopping at Wegmans. When I returned, Drew and I took the girls out for a cruise over to Bemus and back. The rest relaxed in the yard, in the sun until lunch when Evie made quesadillas for everyone with the leftover steak. Yum. When the gang returned from Wegmans, they also brought some sandwiches for our lunch. We then either adjourned to the yard, to enjoy some sun or the dock or nap, like me.  Tom and Mary arrived around 2:30, tired from their flight but happy to be here. They had just returned from a tough week in Cancun so they were ready to relax!

While everyone either was on the dock or in the yard, Drew and I blew up a couple of floating beach chairs and a huge float. Tom then took a group of ten for a cruise over to Bemus, as the girls wanted to get out on the lake again. While they were gone, Beth and Tyler made guacamole and salsa for appetizers, and then Tyler and Dray made pitchers of Margaritas for the crowd. Obviously, we are not lacking in libations.

Baked Ziti Dinner

Earlier, Evie had pulled out of the freezer baked ziti, three kinds, and shells, warmed them in the oven and we had a feast of a dinner, along with bread and Jill's salad. Baked ziti and shells are everyone's favorite dinner so there was not much left. We then played a game the kids loved when they were young, which is trying to catch a balloon that we blow up and let go into the sky to see who grabs it when it falls. I think it was just as much fun last night. We ended the night around a bonfire, courtesy of Drew and sat around talking and laughing until 10:00. The four granddaughters are now staying just up the hill in the motel room so everyone is comfortable and has a bed, no need for the tent I bought earlier in the summer. Sunday the third of many good days to come.
