Fog Rising On A Chilly 51º Morning

6:33

It's 6:45 as I start this and I have been awake since 6:00.  The sun has burst above the clouds, lighting the lake with its reflection.  It's another quiet weekday on the lake, with not much action on the lake.  I paddled for close to an hour and spotted for the first time a green heron.

Monday was a nice day to enjoy the dock, the side yard, and just sit around reading or watching some of the Olympics on TV.  After kayaking, breakfast, and the blog, I convinced Evie to come with me to the DMV to get an Enhanced Driver's license.  We gathered all the documents we thought we might need and drove to Mayville. I was able to get one because I brought along my passport. Evie's, unfortunately, has expired so she needed more verification.  So I drove home, found her birth certificate, and for some reason, brought along our marriage license. It's a good thing I did because the birth certificate would not have been good enough without a marriage certificate to prove that Evelyn Petkovsek was now Evelyn Davis. It would have been a lot easier to apply for a gun license. By noon, we were on our way home and will get our Enhanced license in a couple of weeks.  They allow us to get into Canada, Mexico, and some countries in the Caribbean without a passport. and it's good for eight years.

After returning home, neither of us wanted to do much.  I had the leftover tuna and macaroni salad for lunch watched some of the Olympics and Bosch, then took a nap.  Evie spent most of the afternoon on the dock, wrapped in a towel because of the wind. We both ended up in the side yard by 3:30, in the sun but safe from the wind.

Afternoon Sky

Around 6:00, we relaxed with a couple of glasses of wine and some cheese and crackers on the front porch. It was a fine way to end the day, the sky a brilliant blue, the lake quieting down.  We decided to have an easy dinner, basically breakfast, so Evie fried up some leftover baked potatoes and eggs and we were happy. We watched the US Women's volleyball team play Italy then another episode of the White Lotus before bed.
