A Quiet October Lake Paddle

7:26

Breakfasting In Front Yards

8:33

It's 8:40 and I was out on the lake for an hour, surprised in that I was the only boat on the lake for the first half-hour of kayaking. I loved it, no sounds of motors, just quiet and occasional squawk from a goose or heron.

Kayak Morning

A Morning Heron

Sunday was a fun day for us, again, nothing we had to do since we were going out to dinner.  We had a relaxing morning, my kayaking the only activity.  The sun came out around 10:30, so we decided to take a Sunday walk at the Chautauqua Institution, which we tend to do most Sundays.  It was a good choice, as the colors are at their prime, the streets lined with a kaleidoscope of fall colors, from trees and bushes and flowers. We walked for a good hour, taking our time to enjoy the going.

Bestor Plaza

Brick Walk

We were home by 12:30 and Evie got busy making our breakfast, fried eggs, bacon, and toast.  We watched some of Chris Wallace's Morning Show, taking pleasure in his skewering of the only Trump official who would appear on television.  Wallace is the man for standing up to Trump and the Republican lies even though he works for Fox News,.

After lunch, I took a nap, watched some football, and did a few things in our yard, putting away some of the chairs and tables for the winter.  I like doing things slowly, in bits, a few things done each day. Evie decided on having our neighbors over for dinner tonight so she got busy in the kitchen, making a dessert, planning the meal.  Mostly, neither of us did much except relax most of the afternoon.

Celebrating Octoberfest

We left for an Octoberfest dinner at Ron and Linda's at 6:00.  We were looking forward to our dinner and were not disappointed.  We started with Octoberfest beer and a couple of really interesting cheeses from Reverie Creamery.  Dinner was just what we wanted and expected, bratwurst with onions and sauerkraut, German potato salad, and a green salad for dinner.  Dessert was a gingerbread made with apples, topped with cream.  We tried to not talk about Trump but he would sneak occasionally to our conversations.  It was a fun night, a good way to end Octoberfest even though we were not in a beer hall in Munich.  We were home by 9:45, in time to watch some TV before going to bed.
