A Bit Of A Chill

Heron At Sunrise
8:03
It's 7;45, the sun just came out, bursting through heavy cloud banks, lighting up the lake and living room.  When I got up at 5:15, it was a chilly 59ยบ, not that I minded it.  I watched the sunrise on the porch, then came inside and read the papers online before going out for a forty-five-minute paddle, down Woodlawn, across to Long Point, then Sandy Bottom and home.  No herons this morning except for early morning on our docks.

Yesterday was not a day of rest for Evie, more so for me, typical right.  Neither of us felt very energetic, wishing to just veg out for the day.  But we cannot quite do that.  For one thing, we were having our neighbors, Bill and Joyce over for dinner.  So that kept Evie busy on and off during the day.  No matter how easy dinner, it still takes time and planning.  We did manage to get in a boat ride around 11:00, down to the Viking and back, on a choppy, windy lake.  We happened to see our financial advisor, just as he was pulling out of his dock with his family.  He just bought a house this past spring and seems to love it.  We don't blame him.

I had a light lunch because neither of us was hungry.  Evie spent a good part of the afternoon on the dock until it was time to start prepping dinner.  We were having asparagus, with shrimp for dinner, along with a salad and dessert, lemon meringue bars.  Once that was prepped and ready, Joyce and Bill came over and we sat on our front porch enjoying some appetizers and beers.

It was pleasant enough for the four of us to eat outside.  At first, we thought it might be too cool but the wind died down and it was a perfect evening for dining alfresco.  By 7:45, however, it started to cool off and we had our lemon meringue bars on the porch.  They left around 8:45 and we then worked in the kitchen, getting dishes done and the kitchen cleaned up so we did not wake up to a mess.

We watched some TV, a Hometown until we were both started falling asleep and went up to bed.
