Pink Sky In The Morning

7:22

7:31

It's 7:30 on a quiet morning on the lake, a light wind from the southeast and 30º, a decent morning for a paddle I hope. It's 9:30 and I was out on the lake for forty-five minutes, paddling south into a light wind, then back home as the wind picked up. Unfortunately, I only chased off ducks and geese, never getting close enough to photograph.

Kayak Morning

North Towards Long Point

Yesterday was a busy and sad day as a good friend passed last week and we went to the visitation at the funeral home in the afternoon. It was a miserable day weather-wise, cold, with some wind and either rain, sleet or snow. I skipped kayaking, of course, because it was Thursday, and went to breakfast in Bemus at 8:00, a good way to start the day. After breakfast, I came home, finished the blog, and drove to Lakewood for a Yin Yoga class.  I was home by 11:45 and because I had a bad night, I tried to take a nap but to no avail. We were dressed and ready to go to the funeral home by 12:45. Because my friend, Joe, grew up in the area, he knew practically everyone so the line to see family almost extended out the door and was long the entire time we were there. It was the first time we had met his kids and grandkids and they were all in attendance, some coming as far as Mexico. We left around 2:30 and decided since we were downtown, we would stop at Wegmans. And because we have severe weather and heavy winds predicted for tonight and tomorrow, we stored up on lots of goodies.

Titmouse At Evie's New Bird Feeder

Nuthatch

Titmouse

We were home by 3:00, happy to be there, and quickly reverted to form, Evie taking photos of birds and enjoying an afternoon snack of popcorn, me in the living room, reading and napping. Around 5:30, we enjoyed some sushi from Wegmans and a glass of wine and listened to the scary news of the US and Britain's bombing of the Houthis in Yemen, possibly widening the conflagration in the Middle East. It was in response to the Houthis terrorizing ships in the Persian Gulf.  We decided to have an easy dinner, so Evie made a salad and we heated up the leftover moussaka in the microwave. That was enough to make us happy as we watched another Fargo episode, then started a Jack Reacher on Prime before ending the night with an ER.
