Some Clouds, Sun, Snow And Wind

6:40

7:14

7:45

It's 7:00 and a bank of clouds hangs over the eastern shore, with blue skies above, and the sun about to rise. We receive an inch plus of snow overnight, just enough to cover the ground and car on a chilly 18º morning,

Yesterday flew by as we were up by 5:00, at the doctor's office by 6:00, and by 8:30 I was home enjoying my first meal in 36 hours. All went well with my colonoscopy and I don't have to have another one for five years. What a relief to be home, enjoying a cup of coffee, some breakfast, sitting on my couch, looking out at the lake.  Simple pleasures are the best although we often ignore them. Enjoy the moment,

Fortunately, the weather was still overcast, the roads, lake, and walks icy so I had no guilt about staying inside and not getting in a walk or hike.  So, I read much of the morning, waiting for lunch, a chicken salad sandwich and I watched another episode of The Sopranos, still in Season Three.

Our afternoon was similar to the morning, my reading, then napping and Evie binge-watching episodes of ER, one of our favorite shows from the 1990s. It felt good to take a couple of days off and not worry about anything. We did, however, have a 15-minute Zoom call with our financial advisor, alerting us to a few changes in our portfolio and reassuring us all was well financially.

We had no worries about dinner because we had over half of the tuna casserole leftover from Monday night so we feasted on that along with a salad while watching the tragic news of what's going on in Ukraine. It's hard to imagine this happening in the 21st century and really scary because Putin might be the most dangerous man in history because he sits on a nuclear stock pile that he's threatened to use. Unthinkable unless you are crazy. We then watched a top-rate film from Germany called In The Fade, about a family devasted by a bombing. The father was Turkish, the mother German, and neo-Nazis bombed a storefront, killing the father and his son. We follow the mother as she seeks justice.  It's worth watching.
