A March Snowstorm

This Morning At 6:55

Yesterday Morning At 6:45

We woke up to another morning of white, as we got my 6-8 inches overnight, covering the lawns, frosting the tree limbs. It's also a chilly 19º and will stay in the teens most of the day.  It's a good thing I never put away my snow shovels because I will be out there clearing away our parking area so I can get to the Transfer Station sometime today.

Friday was a pleasant day until dusk when it started to rain or sleet as the snowstorm was beginning to cover our area. We had nothing scheduled for the morning which was great but by 10:00, Evie wanted to go for a walk so we decided it would be best to go to Chautrauauqa Institution where the streets would be cleared of ice.

Bestor Plaza

We walked for about forty-five minutes and as usual, saw no one else except for the construction guys. It felt good to get some exercise.  We then went to Tops to pick up some rosemary for an appetizer and I stopped to buy gas, $4.39 a gallon.  I have decided to fill up our car whenever it gets down to half full or less because the prices will only go higher.

A Rain Garden

We were home around noon, relaxed some, and then I had lunch, potato pancakes made from leftover mashed potatoes and eggs, another favorite from my childhood.  The rest of the afternoon went quickly, reading, napping, watching some TV, happy that we were going to a neighbors' house at 5:00 for drinks and heavy appetizers.  By 5:00 we were showered and ready to walk down five houses in a light snowfall.  It was a cozy night to be at Jim and Barb's house, along with Newt and Elizabeth their next-door neighbors. It was a Manhattan cocktail night and I made them for everyone. For Barb and Elizabeth, it was their first Mannie.  We had great appetizers, so by the time we left at 8:15, none of us were in need of dinner.  It was a fun get-together after a few months of quarantining because of Covid and all six of us are looking forward to summer.

A Neighbor's Cottage

We walked home in a couple of inches of snow as it was beginning to accumulate, making it easier to walk home. We then relaxed in the TV room until 10:00, watching our usual shows, ending as we usually do Friday nights with an episode or two of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
