O What A Day

7:17

Ospreys

It's 8:30 and I have been up since 7:00, and because I was the first one up,  I paddled for forty-five minutes and shot some good photos of a heron and a couple ospreys. Now four of us are up, the rest still sleeping and Marisa arrived late last night so now there are fifteen.

Yesterday was so much fun and different that it's hard to remember what we did. For once, I did not paddle, enjoying sitting on the porch with my son-in-law Drew. Once all the gang was up, some had eggs, others just bagels, but most were on their own. Four of us, Beth, Mitch, Milena, and I decided to drive to Barcelona Beach and look for rocks to paint or make rock flowers. We were gone until noon, stopping at the Lighthouse to pick up a couple of pounds of our breakfast favorite, pea meal bacon. My granddaughters, Marlena and Halle, drove off to get coffee at Ryders Cup, then stop at Wegmans to pick up a few things. The guys drove to the Lighthouse to pick up pork chops and Delmonico steaks for our dinner. Then the guys and gals went for a walk along Lakeside Drive, bought more beer at Hogans, and were home before us. Mary and Jill then took the girls over to Bemus to shop at Skilllman's, coming home with Chautauqua sweatshirts.

The rest of the day we spent outside, swimming, on the dock sunning, in the side yard reading, napping or in the house on their computers. Lunch was tuna/mac salad, leftover ziti, and sandwich meat, lots of choice for the gang. We could not have asked for a nice afternoon, sunny and cool but pleasant in the sun. Around 5:00, we had a big bean bag tournament, with Nick making up teams. We had some amazingly close games and we did not stop until 7:00, with Tommy and Nick the winners.

We then go busy with dinner, the girls in the kitchen with the sides and table, the guys in the back yard around the grill making pork chops and teriyaki steak. Dinner was as good as it gets, with pork chops and teriyaki steak, baked potatoes, salad, and sweet corn. We sat around talking till 8:30 although the kids drove off to Boxcar Barneys in Mayville, for ice cream. The adults went to be around 10:00, and the kids stayed up in the TV room watching TV although Beth and Tyler waiting up for Marisa who was flying in from Dallas. She arrived around 12:45, excited to be here. And then, all went to bed ending a great day.
