Now We Are Seven, More To Come

Tom's Family Arrives

6:00

8:22

Another sunny warm morning here at the lake, with hardly a whisper of wind on a 66º morning. It's going to be another hot one, with temperatures getting up into the high 80s, and then will cool down tomorrow. It's 8:30 and I was out for an hour on a fine lake morning as the breeze is just starting to pick up. Tom and Mary just got up, the others are still sleeping.

Ready To Start The Day

Yesterday was another get ready for the kids day and though we have been busy getting the house ready the past few days, we still had lots to do. So I won't go into a list of the to-dos other than saying I was washing windows by 10:30, after gassing up the boat and putting out a buoy. I then helped Evie who had been cleaning both bathrooms, and we dragged mattresses out of the attic to set up a bed in our TV room.

That was it other than vacuuming the living room. After lunch, a salami sandwich and soup, I took a 15 nap, then headed off to Petersons Farm, to pick up peaches, then to Wegmans to pick up a few more things we needed. When I returned, Evie was sweating bullets from mowing the lawn on an 88º afternoon. Once she was done, I moved the chairs and picnic table on the lawn and we were practically set.

Unfortunately, Tommy's plane was an hour later, so they did not arrive until 8:00. By then, Evie had parboiled the chicken thighs and I barbecued them on the grill. So once everyone arrived, we had our dinner outside, as it was finally cooling down. We had noodles along with the chicken and everyone was hungry so nothing was left for lunch. We sat around talking, enjoying dessert, Dot's pound cake recipe with fresh fruit. Since Nick and Aundraya were up at 5:00 to catch a flight, we all ended up going to bed just after 11:00. Later, today, Beth and Jill and their families arrive and then there will be fourteen.
