A Chilly But Sunny And Blue Sky Morning.

Juvenile Bald Eagle

Wood Duck

It's just 7:20 as I start this and I have been up for an hour, waiting for the sun to rise, as the calm lake shimmers in the light. It looks like a perfect morning for kayaking, a smooth lake, and no wind. I better get out there before the wind picks up. It's 9:10 as I begin the blog again and it's a good thing I went out for a paddle at 7:30 because the wind has picked up now. It was a glorious paddle, with lots of calm waters, and blue skies, and I was able to photograph a loon, bald eagle, and wood ducks.

Friday was for us, a wacky Friday because we stepped way out of our box after the usual morning routine of a paddle, breakfast, and a blog. Since Evie's doctor's appointment was cancelled, I suggested we go for a ride to a small town about a half hour from us called Clymer. They have a great grocery and retail store and a restaurant/dinner that we have eaten at before called the Dutch Village Restaurant. It was a good choice as the drive through the countryside, past mostly Amish farms were fresh and Spring-like although still lacking in any green. We spent a half hour browsing Neckers and I left with a neat Wolverine flannel jacket and a pound of sweet Italian sausages. We then stopped at our insurance agent to get something notarized before going to lunch. We sat at the counter in a busy dining room and I had soup and a sandwich and Evie ordered breakfast. When we were done, we browsed the retail half of the restaurant before deciding to drive home, through Sherman.

The Spectacular Now

We were home by 1:00 and both of us were pooped out from our crazy Friday morning excursion to the countryside. Evie plopped down on the couch and bemoaned about having had lunch, something she rarely does. I joined her in an afternoon of leisure, finishing my book and starting a new one by T. Jefferson Parker. I also got in a brief nap as the afternoon went quickly. We did manage to regain enough mojo to shower and get ready to go out for dinner at the Viking Club.

We arrived at 6:00 and were lucky to squeeze into two seats at the bar and it was an Evie kind of night as we had fun getting to know twins from Buffalo (Ron and Don), who up just opened their trailer at Wildwood Acres. We also talked briefly with our good friends, Doug and Dawn, and also talked with another guy who was up to open in a cabin in Greenhurst. He proudly pulled up a photo of it on his phone. And we ended the night with three young guys, laughing and drinking, spending at least a hundred bucks on raffle tickets. We left as the place was thinning out, around 8:15, and drove home to another spectacular sky. We were back in time to watch our shows, Jeopardy, and ER before going up to bed, a surprisingly busy and fun day.
