Seven Hours To Virginia

7:05

7:18

7:33

We are both up early as usual when we are beginning a road trip.  It's 6:35 as I start this, pitch black outside, and 28º. The weather looks fine for our drive, cold but not snow or rain.  We know this drive by heart by now, having driven it at least 10 to 15 times.

Lime Man In Winter

Wednesday was cold, with snow flurries much of the day and fog late afternoon as the sky darkened, It was a windy snowy morning so I had no interest in kayaking, and after our coffee and getting a few things done, we bundled up and went for a walk along Webb's Trail in Mayville.  It's a mile out, a mile back on the rails for trails, and was cold whenever we were not protected by the woods.  It was not much fun, to begin with but once we got in the groove, we enjoyed it despite the cold and flurries,  In fact, that's why we went because we love to walk when it snows.

Rails To Trails

We didn't get home until 12:30 and we both had worked up an appetite. Evie made us some nachos to go along with the last of the vegetable soup so I was happy.  I watched another half hour of Foyle's War before taking a nap, then finishing my other book, For Your Own Good, about an English teacher who ends up poisoning not only the headmaster but teachers and students. Cool. And I started another William Kent Krueger novel, set in Minnesota, following the career of Sheriff Cork O'Connor.  This is the third Cork O'Connor novel I have read.

Since we will only be gone for only four or five days, Evie's not been too uptight about packing and neither of us started to pack until late afternoon.  As usual, it took me 15 minutes max and Evie, quite a bit longer but it was done before dinner and wine time.

Evie had planned an easy dinner, knowing we might be busy packing, so we had the leftover spaghetti and meatballs from Monday night. We watch a film so I decided on a fairly new one on Hulu called Together, Together, about a bachelor who decides he wants to be a father and hires a woman to carry his child. It was a bit overdone and silly but got better as he develops a relationship with his surrogate. It ends, unfortunately, as she has the child, leaving us to wonder if the relationship continues.  We ended the night with Jeopardy and some news.
