A Dusting Of Snow

Congratulations to Nick And Aundraya

Congratulations, Beth

Saturday was a big day for our family as our grandson, Nick, got engaged yesterday to Aundraya in a well-planned engagement ceremony in Kansas City.  We are so happy for both of them. And, our daughter Beth graduated yesterday with a Masters In Education from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.  It was a good day for our family.

8:07

It's 8:30 and this morning I was shocked to wake up late, 7:50, walk downstairs, and find Evie up, making me a cup of coffee. She was up early, unable to sleep, so had already cleaned up the kitchen and put the dishwasher on.  It felt strange, even wrong.  I am the guy up at 6:00, ready for a paddle!

Saturday was a miserable day here at the lake, overcast and drizzling most of the day.  It's a good day to kick back and relax and did that for the entire afternoon.  First, however, we gathered the trash and I was off to the Transfer Station, then Walmart to see if they had any Covid tests (they didn't) and pick up a few things.  It was packed as usual, with most wearing masks because our county leads the state in Covid cases. Depressing and disgusting but typical for red counties across the US. I then stopped at Rite Aid, no tests, and went on to Aldi's to pick up a few bargains for the holidays. Frustrated by all the stops, I stopped one more time for coffee at Ryder's Cup.

I was home by noon, in time for Evie's soup and a salami sandwich with tomatoes and lettuce.  I watched my show, read some, napped, and then joined Evie in the TV room around 2:30 for a matinee. We watched a film we have loved, Howard's End, a good way to spend a rainy day afternoon.

We started happy hour at 5:30, we had drinks and appetizers, and it was already dark so there was no watching the sky darken. We listened to Apple Music, enjoying our Manhattans until we got hungry.  We had decided on an easy dinner having filled up on appetizers, soup, and cheese sandwiches.  It was perfect timing as the NCAA Women's Volleyball Finals between Nebraska and Wisconsin were just starting.  We watched them until the beginning of the fifth game. We were too tired to watch the final match and will watch it this morning.
