Home Sweet Home

7:21

7:51

It's 9:18 when I start this having just returned from a forty-five-minute paddle, into the bright sun as I went south towards Wells Bay, with it at my back as I returned.  I glimpsed both an eagle and hawk but had trouble with my telephoto lens opening so I missed them.  Time to get another new camera?  Maybe.

Kayaking Home At 9:02

We left Richmond, IN Tuesday at 7:40, not realizing we were minutes from the Ohio border.  We anticipated a six-hour drive and we were home by 1:30.  It was an easy drive, through the flatlands of Ohio and into New York where the fields were dusted with snow.  When we arrived home, we had close to seven inches of snow.  I forgot to mention that we could not resist stopping at Trader Joe's on Chagrin Blvd in the Cleveland area, supposedly to pick up things for dinner but we left we eighty bucks of stuff as usual. Our neighbor, Jim, cleared not only our parking area and walk and deserves kudos because we would have had to do it to get to our house.  It took us quite a while to unpack the car, then put everything away before we were able to sit down and enjoy being home.

I was quick to relax on the couch and read while Evie decided to fry up some meatballs for dinner, and then slow-cooking them in a pasta sauce. It always feels good to get home no matter how long we have been gone. Around 5:00, Evie had a Zoom call with her sisters and caught up on all she missed over the past 18 days.  We then enjoyed a happy hour with Trader Joe's cheese and crackers as the sky darkened and it began to drizzle, no snow.

We had our meatballs and pasta for dinner and it tasted really good as we are tired of dining out to be honest. We caught up on a couple of favorite shows, Jeopardy and Colbert, then watched some basketball before going to bed. We have had an amazing 19 days on the road, hitting beaches, bars, and restaurants, but the best part was the time we spent with both Beth and Tom's families.  We are so lucky.
