Another Thaw

It's a gray morning, 29º, as the snow begins to melt on our yards and the lake. Yesterday it got up into the 40s, ruining the snowmobile trails so they had literally only a day to ride. It's a big attraction of our area but they need snow.  It will get up to the high 30s, maybe 40 during the week, none of the single digits of last week.

Late Sunday On The Lake

Sunday was different for a couple of reasons. First, however, we began the day with a long coffee hour, while watching the ice fishermen both leave and walk out on the lake. It was warmer than the previous few days so lots of guy were out. Around 10:30, neighbors called to see if we wanted to hike Dobbins Woods. Evie had things she wanted to get done but I am always available so I picked them up around 10:30. The woods was surprisingly rough for a walk, as previous hikes made divets in the snow which was now either frozen or beginning to melt. Plus the boardwalks were icy so I was glad to have my poles along for the walk. It's about a 35-minute walk. After our walk, we drove to Lakewood for a quick run through Wegmans and were home by 12:30.

Hiking With Neighbors, Jim And Barb

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, our mailbox was destroyed by tree trimmers and we were using a neighbor's box until I got a new one. Well, my good friend, Jim, volunteered to help rip the old box down and mount a new one. It took him a little over an hour to mount it with me being his gopher. It sure looks spiffy and our mail lady will love it. When I got home, Evie had omelets made and warming in the oven. We enjoyed them while watching CBS Sunday Morning of course. Once breakfast was over, we went our ways and either read, napped, or watched TV. Our afternoon does not change much. 

Our New Mailbox

We were looking forward to 5:00 when we sat down with a brie with blue cheese and a Manhattan, a reward for a hard week. And best of all, we had an easy dinner because Evie had seared some brats, and put them in the oven with sauerkraut so dinner was no fuss. We watched a Hometown, then Grammy's but they bored us so we went up to bed early.
