O What A Beautiful Morning

It's 9:05 as I start this and the sun is filling the lake with its reflection on a chilly 39º morning. I have been out paddling for 80 minutes, across to Long Point, back to Sandy Bottom into a fierce southwesterly wind, then as easy paddle home as I hugged the shoreline, so I was protected from the wind.

Yesterday was finally Saturday after feeling that Friday was Saturday. It was an uneventful day really, like many Saturdays, a long paddle, writing the blog, then trying to decide what to do with our day. The only thing we knew for sure was that we were going out to dinner with Tina and Jim at the Rod and Gun because it was Lobster night. We finally made up our minds and I gathered the trash, drove off to the Transfer Station and Evie started a soup, another favorite, Indian spiced cauliflower soup.

Neither of us felt like hiking for some reason so we hung out much of the late morning and early afternoon. I had a menemen for lunch with a bagel and was happy. I watched a little football, then Game of Thrones. It was a beautiful afternoon but chilly so we witnessed it from our warm living room. I, of course, tried to nap but ended up reading until 3:30 when I decided I had to get some exercise so I drove to Mayville, parked my car and went for a bike ride on Webbs Trail and Sea Lion Drive. I was out for fifty minutes and it was a chilly ride, especially into the wind. On the way home, I stopped at the Lighhouse and picked up a pound of breakfast sausage for our Sunday morning brunch.

We both showered and got gussied up and picked up Tina and Jim at 6:00 before driving to the Rod And  Club. It was packed because it was lobster night. We were lucky to find a table in the lounge and just as we got our beers and pretzel bites with beer cheese, we were called to our table in the dining room. All four of us ordered the lobster tails ($25.00) along with a choice of potatoes and a salad. Neither of us has had lobster since our Maine trip in 2016 so we really enjoyed it. Interestingly, two of our kids, Tom and Jill are in Bar Harbor, Maine,  enjoying hiking and many lobster rolls and our daughter, Beth, is in Santa Fe, enjoying the artistic center and hiking the trails. It looks like all of us had a great weekend.

We were home by 8:30 and watched two more episodes of The Killing, thinking it was finally over because they finally apprehended the bad guy but soon realized that there are five more episodes left, so there must be a serial killer on the loose.
