A Chilly, Overcast Fall Morning

Still Blooming

6:52

7:39

9:15

It's 7:30, the sky a vast canvas of gray clouds, with hardly a peep of light. At 39º, I am in no hurry to get out and kayak but I should sooner than later because the wind is supposed to pick up. It's 9:40 as we finish this up and I was out on the lake for 80 minutes, paddling down to Tom's Point and back, running into Tina and Jim. I saw no eagles or herons but as we sat here finishing up the blog, three or four cruised by, stopping at our neighbors dock for a few seconds

Yesterday, a Friday, seemed like Saturday to both of us. This happens quite often. Anyways, I had a brief, windy paddle to start the day, not a good start to my day.  After the usual, blog and breakfast and a walk around the neighborhood, Evie had the fine idea that we go for a walk around Long Point State Park, something we have not done in a while. By 10:45, we were finally ready and off we went, parking at the end of Lakeside Drive.

Park Trails

Snarled Tree Trunks

The park colors were not as striking as we hoped but it was still good to be back in the woods, breathing the same air as the trees. We were the only ones in the woods and walked for close to an hour. We then stopped in Bemus, picked up some celery for dinner, and did a quick run through Skillman's, admiring all their expensive but lovely clothes.

Fawn In The Woods

By 12:30, I was settled in the TV room, watching Game of Thrones, and enjoying leftover wings from Thursday night at Steener's Pub. By the while, while we were hiking, Chris picked up our boat and took it to be power washed, winterized, and stored, one more thing done in preparation for winter, We took it easy the rest of the afternoon, feeling smug since we got in a hike in the morning. I am still into my book, The Ice Princess and fell asleep while reading. By 4:00, we were bored enough to watch another episode of The Killing, a 20-episode Danish series we are enjoying.

More Dahlias

I had a hankering for Indian food, so around 4:30, Evie put together our dinner, a chicken curry, with apples, bananas, and cream. Once it was done, we relaxed in the living room as usual, with a  glass of wine and listening to the news, rarely good. We were enjoying our curry over rice with a salad by 6:46 and binge-watched three more episodes of The Killing and we still cannot figure out who done it. We had enough of the Danish thriller by 9:00 and watched Jeopardy before bed.
