It's 6:52, 45º, and overcast and I am getting tired of it. The flag's flying, all is gray outside for now and a couple of fishing boats are out on the lake already. It's just before 9:00 as I finish this blog. I kayaked for forty-five minutes down to Bootey Bay and back, running into Jim and Tina, out for an early morning paddle as well.

A Bundled Up Jim And Tina |
It rained much of yesterday so we did not get out in the garden. Instead, after breakfast and the blog, we drove to Erie to our favorite nursery, Stan's, arriving at about 11:00 in a crowded parking lot, probably because of Mother's Day tomorrow. It's a huge nursery, with lots of garden ornaments, annuals, perennials, bushes, and trees. You name it, they got it. We had never seen it so crowded, with so many workers, helping out and bringing in new stuff. Needless to say, Evie was in heaven, as we were able to get some annuals and herbs, then went outside the greenhouse and picked out a couple of hydrangeas in a drizzle. It was worth the drive. On the way home, we stopped at a huge Walmart where we found some interesting dahlia tubers last year but not much yesterday.
We were home around 1:00, and Evie made me a quesadilla, with avocados and tomatoes for lunch. Messy but yummy. It rained much of the afternoon, so we spent it as usual, with me napping or reading. As I was about to get ready to go out to dinner, Evie noticed our purple martin house was floating in the water. I ran out, put on my waders, walked out in the water, and was able to retrieve it although the crossbars, holding the gourds were broken. This had never happened before. My guess is that the pipe I pounded into the mud did not go deep enough and the wind knocked it over. At least, I was able to save it and will figure out a way to make it more stable.
We met our neighbors, kayak buddies, at the Rod And Gun bar at 6:15. Like all Fridays at the Rod and Gun, it was busy. We ordered our beers just as we were called to a table. Tina and Jim are friends with the head waiter who puts their name on the list for a table before they arrive so they don't have an hour wait which we have often had. It was good to see them since they have not been up since last fall. All four of us had the fish fry, one of the best around and our bill was under thirty-three dollars, including two beers and with tip, we were out for forty bucks. . It's still the best deal in town,
We were home by 8:00, and watched our favorite contestant lose on a betting fluke on Jeopardy by one dollar. We then watched Slow Horses and Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Guy visited Michael Symonds's new barbecue place called Mabels, on 4th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. It looked great.
