Getting Warmer

It looks like it rained quite a bit overnight, lots of puddles on this surprisingly warm, partly cloudy 47º morning. The sky is mottled, some light among the gray clouds and no wind to speak of so far. It was an amazing morning for kayaking, not a ripple on the lake, brilliant sun and fog to begin, but then it clouded up.  Lots of birds this morning as you can see.

Monday was a busy day starting with a paddle and some sightings of ospreys and kingfishers. We had no hurry in the morning as the new frig and oven guy were coming in the afternoon. So we decided by 10:30 that we needed to get in some exercise so we drove over to Bemus and hiked through the Long Point State Park. The last time we were there, I cross country skied, and Evie snow shoeed. This time the trails were all covered with fallen brown leaves, a few shoots of green sprouting in the woods. It felt good to be outdoors, on a crispy morning, the woods quiet, the trails empty.

We were home by noon and Evie made me a great fried chicken sandwich, fat with coleslaw for lunch.  I watched my show, then took a brief nap as the guys started arriving.  First, they pulled out our old refrigerator, and brought in the new as the oven guy arrived, to fix our oven. They were both finished by 2:30 and the oven guy even took apart our dishwasher, helping us to find out why it was leaking. It meant Evie spent a good hour on the phone talking with Bosch to get someone out to either bring us a new dishwasher or fix the old one.  Around 3:00,  I l drove to Home Depot to pick up a water line for our ice maker, something that the salesperson never told us we would need. I also stopped at Wegmans' for a few things for dinner, and when I returned home, Evie had the refrigerator up and running, the oven working, as it heated up our dinner, leftover roast beef, and gravy. With mashed potatoes and a salad, we were both happy.

We watched another episode of Tokyo Vice, then started a comedy series on Hulu called Abbott Elementary, set in a Philadelphia school. It's decent and we may stick with it as the episodes are hardly more than 20 minutes. We watched another Jeopardy of course and ended with another episode of Bargain Block set in Detroit.
