Frost In The Morning

An Osprey Morning

6:48

9:06

I woke to clear skies and a bright sunrise on another cold, 32º morning here at the lake.  It should be sunny much of the day and the temperatures may get into the 50s. Hallelujah Spring. We have a big day because the stove guy is coming to fix our oven and our new refrigerator is arriving as well--a big day.

A Second Osprey

First Kingfisher Of 2022

Sunday was another chilly day, with some sun late in the day, and a few leftover flurries from Saturday. I attempted a paddle but soon turned around because of the windy conditions and choppy lake. So I was back by 8:00, just as Evie was getting up. We had an extended coffee, listened to Jake Tapper, and finished up the blog.  By 11:00, we had decided on dinner, oven-fried chicken with coleslaw so Evie pulled some chicken thighs out of the freezer.  We then drove to the Chautauqua Institution for our Sunday constitutional, a walk around the grounds. It felt good to be outside after a day spent inside watching the Masters.  We walked for close to an hour braving the winds at certain crossroads.  Hurlburt Church was crowded for once with Palm Sunday attendees. We were home by 12:15 and ready for a big breakfast.

Evie happened upon a recipe from Smitten Kitchen on Facebook for pancakes, made with carrots and other ingredients, topped with cream cheese, somewhat like a carrot cake.  They ended up being really tasty and because of the cream cheese, we did not need syrup.  We had turkey breakfast sausage as well and like that as much as pork sausage.  We watched our show, CBS Sunday morning and I then read some and took a nap.  Around 2:45, we started our marathon of watching the Masters, hoping that Scottie Scheffler would hold his lead and win.  He did which was exciting except for the fact that his major opponent, Cameron Smith fell apart.  It's always sad to see someone lose their momentum their nerve.  Interestingly, Scheffler went to Highland Park High School in Dallas, where Super Bowl quarterback, Matthew Stafford, also graduated, as did two of our grandchildren, Mitchell and Marisa. We enjoyed our oven-fried chicken and coleslaw, watching Scheffler win on the 18th hole and hug his wife, his fourth win in 2022, quite a run for a relatively new golfer,

We ended the night with Real Time With Bill Maher and the first episode of an HBO Max series called Tokyo Vice and a new series, to us, called Bargain Block, where two guys buy distressed homes in poor Detroit neighborhoods, fix them up usually in quirky and bizarre ways and sell them,  rehabilitating poor neighborhoods.
