A Morning of Light Rain/ Snow

7:47

I woke to a thin layer of snow on the car, but when I stepped outside to check on the weather, it was raining, so I forgot about a paddle. It's a chilly 34º, a result of southerly wind, and I doubt if we will have much sunshine today. A Special weather statement warns of sleet and rain, making driving and walking dangerous. Great.

Winter Woods

Yesterday, a Saturday, was typical even if the weather was overcast, windy, with an occasional snowflake. I was up early, wrote the blog then ended up going kayaking at the suggestion of Evie.  I did not stay out long but it felt good to get back on the lake. Although I did not much feel like going for a walk, Evie convinced me it would be good so we gathered the trash, dropped it off at the Transfer Staton, then drove down to the Long Point Marina, parked our car, and walked out to the tip of Long Point and back.  We took our time, walked down to the lake a couple of times, and were out for forty-five minutes, enjoying the cold air and even the wind and snowflakes.  Because of patches of ice, we were careful to use our Nordic walking sticks as we walked.

Walking Along Shore Of Long Point

Lake And Clouds

We returned home at 1:00 and had lunch, the leftover beef barley soup, and a veggie wrap on lavash, perfect after a walk in the cold.   I watched some college basketball, but soon was bored and returned to my series.  The rest of the afternoon was typical, with Evie occasionally working on weeding our pantry of things we don't want only to realize how hard it is to throw anything away. This is the reason why storage garages were developed in the 1950s as Americans accumulated more stuff than we needed but did not want to part with it.  I read and napped, of course, waiting for the afternoon to go by so we could relax as the sky darkened, with a Manhattan, popcorn, cheese and crackers, and good music.  We stretched our cocktail out until 7:00 when Evie grilled some Italian sausages, heated up the man n cheese, made a salad, and we had a quick dinner.

Enjoying Long Point

We watched a couple of episodes of Schitt's Cree, Midnight Diner, and the never-ending news, filling our evening until it was time to head upstairs to bed.
