 It's after 8:00, the snow is beginning to melt, the lake, too, but a few guys are out fishing in the middle of the lake.  It's 36º and should get up into the high 40's, for what is becoming typical winter weather.

Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday, a big deal in our family since our son Tom's family lives in Kansas City and Jill's family also lived just outside Kansas City and became Chiefs fans.  So both Evie and I had something invested in the game, hoping for a Chiefs win.  It did not change our day much, however, as we had the usual long Sunday morning coffee.  Around 10:30 I rose from the couch after finishing up the blog and was excited to get out on the lake to ski because we had a couple of inches of snow overnight.  Unfortunately, once I got out there, I realized it was a wet snow and my skis kept freezing up so I could not slide.  I stopped and cleaned them off once only to have it happen again.  So I was out for less than 20 minutes before coming in, disgusted with the terrible skiing.

At least I had a good breakfast ahead of me.  So around noon, Evie fried up some eggs and bacon, made toast with feta cheese and jam and we watched CBS Sunday morning.  We then had an easy afternoon, watching some of the hype for the Super Bowl, and listening to some of the Morning political programs but basically waiting for the game to begin. I finished my book and napped briefly before it was time for wine, a prelude to the Super Bowl.

Dinner was easy because Evie had it made Saturday morning, pork and sauerkraut and let it sit out on the porch overnight because it always seems better the second day.  So we feasted on the pork and sauerkraut, with mashed potatoes and watched the Super Bowl, depressed for the first three quarters and part of the fourth quarter because the Chiefs looked destined to lose.  But then the momentum changed, Mahome picked up his game and a miracle happened, the Chiefs scored three times in the last eight minutes to win the game.  Evie was texting with our kids who went crazy when the Chiefs scored the final touchdown on a run by Damian Williams.  It's strange how we couldn't really enjoy the game because we wanted the Chiefs to win and it looked like they would lose for the first 52 minutes.  So it was only towards the end, the last few minutes, that we could really enjoy the game.

We watched the excitement after the game, the interviews with Any Reid and Mahome before packing it up and going to bed, tired but happy for our kids.
