A Couple Of Inches Of Snow

7:36
It's 7:15 and the yard and lake are once again white, covered with an overnight snowfall.  I was out for a few minutes, cleaning off the car and getting the paper on a 30º morning.  That should be it for the snow but the temperature will continue to drop during the day and tomorrow, getting into single digits for a day or two.

Wednesday was mostly gray, not particularly cold, just the typical Chautauqua winter day we are getting used to, not enough snow, slush on the roads, and gray skies.  I was up by 7:30, in time to have breakfast and finish the blog by 9:00 although I did not have to leave for yoga until 9:30.  It was nice to see a few more people in Jen's class; maybe others are beginning to realize it's a good class.  After class, I stopped for coffee, talked with Campbell, a local roustabout who just returned from a vacation in Rincon, Puerto Rico.  It sounded like a cool place.  I then stopped at the bank, cashed a check, got some gas, then went to Aldi's and spent quite a bit of money because I did not just buy veggies but meat, fish, and scallops.

I was home later than usual, at 12:30, ready for a good lunch.  We had some leftover mashed potatoes and chicken from a previous dinner so Evie heated them up with some gravy in the microwave and I had lunch.  We watched another episode of Breaking Bad.  We are both getting into it so the temptation is always to watch more than one but we resisted.  So I finished my Allan Furst and started a new novel recommended by one of my former Robert College students, THE MUSE by Jessie Burton. So far, so good.

After a brief nap, we had to decide on dinner.  Evie suggested chicken piccata which sounded like a good idea. so she prepped it, dusting the chicken breasts and making the lemon/vermouth/ sauce. We did take time out to watch another Breaking Bad before wine time, with some good cheese from Trader Joe's.  Around 6:30, Evie sauteed the chicken breasts, added the sauce and made some rice and we had another tasty dinner, enough in fact that we probably can have it tonight.  We watched some of the news, tired quickly of the same old and went back to a couple of more episodes of Breaking Bad before bed.  It's nice to have a series to go to when there is nothing else to watch on TV.
