Mostly Gray And Quiet On A Calm Lake

6:20

7:51
Up at 6:00 to an empty,  quiet lake.  No bass boats, just a few singing birds on a partly cloudy morning.  The lake is shimmering, inviting me to get out there and kayak.  It should be another fine spring day on the lake, lots of sun, light winds, moderate temperatures, in the 60's.  It's just after 8:00 and I went out for a paddle just after 7:00, a solitary paddle to Sandy Bottom, Long Point, and home.

Kayak Morning
A Breakfasting  Regular
Yesterday was the busiest day on the lake since last fall.  Bass boats were out, pleasure boats, even some kayaks, all looking to enjoy a pleasant Sunday.  I was out early as well, to join a couple of fishermen.  When I got home,  Chris came over to finish up our dock, putting in the ladder and attaching straps on to the metal horses to keep them from swaying.  It was his idea and it makes quite a difference.  Afterward, we decided to see if we could discourage the barn swallows from nesting below our end dock pieces.  Last week, I bought 100 feet of plastic netting so we cut it in pieces and I stapled them on to the four sides of the dock.  The pieces are long enough so they reach down to the water.  We are hopeful although I think they have discovered a crack between pieces so I will have to go out there this morning and tie the corners together.  Other than that, it seems to work...so far.

Dad And Mom
By the time we were through with that, it was time four our big breakfast.  Evie decided to not only cook bacon and eggs but also put together the spices and marinade for our dinner of chicken tikka masala.  Needless to say, it was hectic, like juggling three balls at once.  It was worth it, a great breakfast, a  relaxing half hour, as we watched the hilarious SNL satire on the Great Blusterer and his cronies.  They were so right on that there have been no tweets about it.

The afternoon was just like Saturdays, as we decided to spend it doing nothing, relaxing and reading on our dock, watching the action, the boats, the waterfowl, the hikers on Long Point.  It was a bit windy but we were able to turn on chairs so the wind was at our back and we both wore fleeces.  Evie was out there until at least 4:00.  I came in earlier to watch some of the NBA playoffs and get a few things ready for the launching of our boat this week.

Around 6:00, Evie made some brown rice, blanched some broccoli, browned the marinated chicken, and made the masala sauce, while enjoying a glass of wine and listening to one of our favorite playlists.  And to make the Indian dinner more authentic, Evie warmed some naan in the oven.  Dinner was spicy and delicious, lots of flavor and the naan made it.  We watched The Circus, some Colbert, waiting for BILLIONS to come on at 9:00 as Homeland is over.  It was the end to a good day on the lake.
