A Wet, Foggy Morning

Kayak Morning

Paddling To Long Point

Fog At 6:46
Woodlawn
I was up at 6:00, to a heavy fog, little visibility beyond our dock.   When I walked outside, the moisture was palpable.  It' 53º, should clear up later this morning and become a sunny day in the low 70's.  It's 7:25 and the sun just broke through the gray, as the fog has begun to dissipate and it looks like I will be able to go kayaking.  It's a good morning paddle if I am able to photograph either wood ducks or a blue heron.  Well, this morning I was able to photograph both and was able to get within 15 feet of a great blue heron.  Exciting morning on the lake.

Yesterday I was able to get in a paddle between the thundershowers, then went to yoga in Lakewood at 9:30 and needed it, as I was tired, lacking any mojo.  Class always helps me to regain some momentum to my day.  I skipped coffee, stopped at the store to pick up a few things for our dinners and was home by 11:30.  For lunch, I had vegetable soup, crackers, cheese and pepperoni, not the most healthy of lunches but good.

Evie had a couple of annual tests in Westfield, so she left around 12:30 and was gone for a couple of hours.  I took advantage of the empty house by watching some TV, reading and taking a nap, catching up after a bad night's sleep.  It rained much of the day so when Evie returned, we hung out in the living room, Evie continuing to work on the Shutterfly album.  We probably got a good inch of rain yesterday but miraculously, around 4:30, the sky opened up and the sun came out, the outdoors having that just washed look.

We could not resist, so we left our couches, grabbed a glass of wine and an appetizer, our new favorites, freshly sliced radishes dipped in edamame hummus and sat out on the dock for an hour, enjoying the sun, the mostly empty lake, a few purple martins flitting by.  What a surprise to have a late afternoon of sun and blue skies.

When we came in, around 6:30, the leftover stew was already heating.  All Evie had to do was microwave the mashed potatoes and make a salad.  Everything tasted great, even though both the stew and mashed potatoes were from the freezer.  It makes dinner much easier for Evie on a busy day.  Our viewing each evening does not change much, some politics, then Colbert, and usually a series of some sort.  Now we are in the fifth episode of SAFE from Netflix.  It's becoming a bit much, as too many things are happening, feels chaotic.
