There Is A Sun Rise

Hiking Chautauqua Creek To Lake Erie

Booze Cruising

6:09

It's 8:30 and most of us are up, surprised by how light it is in the living room because of the sun.  I kayaked for over an hour on a beautiful lake morning, finally, after a week of overcast skies and rain. I was up in time to see the sunrise over Long Point at 6:09, again, for the first time in a week or more.

Yesterday morning was a disaster, as it started to drizzle as I began my paddle and poured as I returned from Sandy Bottom.  And it poured most of the morning, at least half an inch in our rain gauge but we were optimistic because it was supposed to clear up around noon.  So we had a big breakfast of peameal bacon and fried eggs, compliments of Beth before we planned our day. Tom and Mary left early to work out and pick up the makings for Mary' Famous meatballs and pasta sauce.   Others left later and five of us decided to drive up to Barcelona Beach on Lake Erie, near of mouth of Chautauqua Creek.

Walking To Lake Erie

Looking For Rocks

The Many Shapes

Resting Up

We walked a quarter of a mile along the creek to a beach of rocks, no sand, as Lake Erie had been ferocious over the past year, with high winds and waves, taking away beaches along the Lake Erie shore. We walked the beach for a half-hour, looking for interesting shapes of rocks, one's we might want to paint today if we have any mojo left. We stopped in Westfield and picked up three homemade pies, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry/rhubarb for our dinner.

Three Pies Full

When we returned, we were created by the aroma of meatballs, forty of them at least, frying up for our dinner and a huge pot of tomato sauce simmering on the stove.  Many were eating lunch of various sorts and Evie and made up both a pot of corn chowder and a bowl of tuna fish and mayo for sandwiches.  And best of all, the sun came out and stayed out all day so we could enjoy both the yard and dock.

Relaxing Back

Around 2:00, the girls went into Lakewood to do some shopping for gifts, t-shirts, things like that and picked up a couple of half gallons of vanilla ice cream for our pies.  We took advantage of the afternoon, sunbathing and swimming on the dock, napping inside, or cleaning up the kitchen before destroying it again with prepping.

Titanic

Vodka(less) Mary

Around 5:00, ten of us went for a booze cruise down the lake to the Viking Club and back around Long Point.  It was a fine evening for a cruise, a nice breeze and a sun beginning to drop in the Western sky.  We sat around enjoying libations while Tyler and Beth made a banana cream pie for those eccentrics who don't like berry pies.

Mary's Sicilian Meatballs And Tomato Sauce Dinner

Dinner was a feast of meatballs and pasta, along with a salad, sourdough bread, and red wine.  We ate so much that we had to put off enjoying our pie a la mode until 8:00.  The pies are to die for, worth the twenty bucks a piece we paid for them.  We were too full and tired to play any games so we sat around talking, on our devices until 10:30 when most of us went up to bed.
