It Was A Good Day

Finally, Dining Outside

M & M

Cousin Love

It's later than usual, 10:00 as I start my blog despite getting up at 6:15.  Surprisingly, I was the only one up for the first half-hour, then Rami and Tyler joined me and Beth before I left to kayak for a half hour.  Now the kitchen is busy, with Evie making pancakes for the crowd and the third or fourth carafe of coffee.

Staying Cozy

Halle, Mary, Marlena

Yesterday turned out to be a sunny day, perhaps the only one of the kids' vacation, so we took advantage of it.  Early, I kayaked and the others, once up, went either to the gym to work out or for a run around the campground, or over to Bemus for a walk. After the madness and chaos of making multiple breakfasts,  everyone got in some exercise before a relaxing afternoon. I, of course, went to the Transfer Station with a car full of garbage bags for only three days. I continued on to Wegman's to pick up a couple of basics we needed, lettuce, milk, and eggs. When I got home, most were out on the dock, some in the boat trying to get it started.  Unfortunately, the battery was weak so I charged it all afternoon, called Chris, my boat guy who came over and started it right up around 5:00.

So we spent the afternoon on the dock, float or in the yard sunbathing, occasionally going into the kitchen for a lunch of leftovers, sandwiches, or anything we could find in the refrigerator. At 4:00, a group wanted to do something different so they drove over to Bemus and had beers at the Ellicottville Brewery's porch.

They returned at  5:30, and we started some competitive games of bean bag as everyone sat outside to watch, with a libation of their choice of course.  Around 7:00, the guys went out to grill six pounds of lamb/beef koftes which Evie had put together in the afternoon.  We were able to eat outside and everyone enjoyed the Turkish Iskender kebabs, basically toasted pita covered with koftes, tomato sauce, and yogurt.  Yum Yum.

Three Generations Of Men

After dinner, since the boat was now working, ten of us went for a cruise over to Bemus and back as the western sky started to darken.  It was great to be back out on the lake. When we returned most of us watched a horror movie called Annabelle, while five of us sat in the living room enjoying a peanut butter whiskey called Skrewball.  By 10:00, many of us were tired and went up to bed, leaving the young uns to themselves.
