And Then There Were Seven

Our Grandson, Tyler

Some Of Our Girls Have Arrived

6:33

It's a quiet, foggy morning on the lake and I have been up for two hours, kayaked for forty minutes, and am now on my couch, still alone, as the gang is still sleeping.  I woke to a clear morning but by the time I finished kayaking, the house was locked into the heavy fog.  It's not raining but wet outside, a result of another inch and a half of rain yesterday.

Thursday was a busy day, with lots of driving for Tyler, our grandson from Boston and Jill and Halle from Virginia.  I got in a paddle early before the girls got up, and we enjoyed a long coffee and breakfast of peameal bacon and eggs, making of lists of foods that both Tyler and Marisa wanted because they both have strict, healthy regimens.  Beth and Marisa left around 11:00 for Wegmans, stopped at the Fitness Bunker to sign up for a week of workouts. While they shopped, Evie and I rearranged the bedrooms because of a change in Jill's plans; Drew and Hayden could not come because of work, so we changed things around so most everyone had a bed or at least a mattress.

Dahlia Of The Day

Evie made me a quesadilla for lunch just before the girls came home, with lots of goodies for the next week.  I took a brief nap, gearing up for the arrival of both Jill, Halle, and Tyler then drove off at 1:30 to an eye appointment to get to glasses,  I was surprised to find out that if I used the same frames and lens, there would be no charge for my new, post-cataract surgery, prescription, a nice surprise. We spent the rest of the afternoon waiting for Jill and Tyler to arrive.  About 4:00, we received a text from Jill saying they were waiting for a fallen tree to be cleared from the road in the Allegheny Forest.  That took about a half-hour so they did not arrive until 5:30.

We then sat on the front porch with a glass of wine, as it had stopped raining, and waited for Tyler who arrived at 7:00. Just before he arrived I put about six pounds of precooked ribs on the grill, so by 7:45, we were ready to eat a great dinner of ribs, corn, mac n cheese, and salad. After filling up on the ribs, mac n cheese, and corn, there was little interest in a dessert so we skipped it.  We were all tired, too tired to play telefunky so we sat around talking until 10:00 when Evie and I were the first to go up to bed.
