Lots Of Sun And Blue Skies (Dock And Boat Are In)

9:35

It's 8:00 and both of us have been up for an hour, reading, drinking our coffee, and watching the sunrise and fill the lake and our house with its brightness. It's 9:30 and I paddled for close to forty minutes, down to the reeds, across to Long Point, and home to Woodlawn.

Kayak Morning

Northern Blue

Distant Clouds

Yesterday was not the best of days although it started out with a good paddle, the blog and breakfast. We had decided to head to Buffalo to drop off our Ryobi Electric lawn mower at Buffalo Outdoor Power, an hour-and-a-half drive, a bummer. We were going to leave around 10:00 but just as we were getting ready, Chris arrived to pull our boat out and Dave and guys drove in to take out our dock. So we stayed and supervised the pulling out of the dock and didn't head to Buffalo until 11:30, no big deal because we had nothing really planned for the day other than dropping off the lawnmower.

We arrived at Outdoor Power at 1:15 and were shocked by the mess of boats and Ryobi lawnmowers (a bad sign) sitting in their front yard, hoping to be fixed. The outside was matched by the absolute mess of parts and stuff inside, on the floor, on chairs, on shelves. How they find anything is a mystery. Anyways, a lady took our name, filled out a form, and we attached it to our lawnmower and she said it would be two or three weeks before they would be able to fix it.

Waiting For Hot Dogs At Teds

On the way home, we stopped at Ted's Hot Dogs, a must-stop for our former neighbors Bill and Joyce. It's a popular Buffalo eatery and there was a line of 12 people when we arrived, waiting to order their dogs and condiments. We shared a footlong and fries and were happy. We then stopped at the Indian Reservation gas station for gas, a dollar cheaper than around here and Evie picked up some gummies. So we were both happy. Unfortunately, it was slow going because of road work as we approached Fredonia and it took at least 15 to 20 minutes to get to the exit.

We were home by 4:15, much later than we thought. I got a few things done, moved some chairs and cement blocks out of our porch view, and set up a rubber mat for my kayak since the dock's been taken in.

6:57 PM

We were happy to be home, on our couches enjoying a libation and a good cheese, a reward for our long afternoon, an hour plus drive to Buffalo and back. Dinner was easy and good, the chili Evie made on Thursday along with saltines and a salad. We watched the usual, news, food shows and home improvement before going up to bed, whooped from our day.
