This morning's a carbon copy of the past two or three mornings, a cloudless sky, bright sunshine, a placid lake, and a chilly 49º. It's 9:40 as I finish this, after a 50-minute paddle, across to Long Point, back to Sandy Bottom and home.

Great Blue Heron Above The Reeds |
Yesterday may have been the most beautiful day ever on our lake at least it seemed that way in the afternoon when I sat outside in the yard, under the trees, sun shining, reading my book. Autumn in Chautauqua County is often spectacular. The day started out as usual with a 35-minute paddle and a shot of a bald eagle, making my morning. That was the only good part of the morning because I had a long dentist appointment at 10:30, with a half hour of x-rays and then the bad news that followed, replace a crown, pull a wisdom tooth, and maybe need an implant. Why do I brush, floss, use the water pik, and rinse with a mouthwash?
On the way home, I stopped at Home Depot to pick up a spark plug for our Honda because our electric mower is still being serviced. And I did a quick run through Wegmans, picking up a couple of prescriptions and eight gallons of water for our Keurig. Evie had been busy cleaning our carpet, getting some of the spots out of it and it looks great. I had the end of a sub for lunch, and Evie made me an omelet. I finished my series, Dark Winds, and must find something new to watch during lunch. I read my book, Tell Me Everything and napped briefly before going outside, emptying some pots into the compost, and things like that before settling down in our sideyard, talking with my daughter Jill, and then reading until wine time. And as I mentioned, it was a gorgeous afternoon.

Reading In The Afternoon |
Dinner was tasty, a nice fat pork chop with fried potatoes. Yum. We watched Colbert, CNN, some home improvement shows, and NFL football when Evie went up to bed.
