It's 755, gray clouds and a calm lake greet me this morning. The crows are yakking and there are no duck hunters out so far. Light rain is expected just as I go out for a paddle, of course. It will stay in the 30s most of the day. It's 9:25 and I was out for a fifty-minute paddle in a sporadic drizzle, down to Sandy Bottom and back along Victoria and Woodlawn on a gray morning.

Paddling Home |
Yesterday was another good day, especially the morning and early afternoon. I paddled down to Whitney Bay and was out for close to an hour, a great way to start a Sunday. After breakfast, we decided to take our usual walk through the Chautauqua Institution, a good choice and we actually came across maybe four or five people out like us enjoying the morning. We were home by 12:15 and had a big breakfast if a big breakfast involves eggs, set on top of a sweet potato and a bagel. Evie's into sweet potatoes, we have enjoyed them for breakfast, lunch (in soups), and dinner.

Thunder Bridge |
Our afternoon was football, on and off, although the Bills did not play and the Browns were not on TV, only on the radio. So I was able to get in a nap as well as read and watch some football. Around 4:00, Evie gave me a shearing, much needed, and I then showered, shaved, and washed my hair and came out looking like a new boy, in a flannel shirt and jeans. I was ready for dinner with our friends, Ron and Linda.

Before The Rain |
We drove over at 6:00, in the rain which started as predicted around 3:00. We had not seen Ron and Linda for almost a month so it was like a homecoming, a Sunday dinner at their house. We sat around the kitchen table, drinking wine, regaling them with our aborted trip out West. Dinner was really tasty, lamb meatballs, with a yogurt and cumin sauce, like something a Turkish restaurant might make. With a salad and a lemon curd for dessert, we had a happy and tasty gathering. We drove home in heavy rain and watched some of the Chiefs loss to Green Bay. It was another good day on the lake.
