Both Evie and I were up early, at 5:30, although we did not intend to be up that early.  So we may get an earlier start than planned although the traffic is so bad that it will not make much difference when we leave.  Jennifer, our niece, is also up and leaves just after 6:00 by Uber to O'Hara, then home to Washington, D.C,

How lucky to be in Oak Park on a spectacular spring day,  lots of sunshine, birds singing, trees blossoming, and an almost too warm 75º mid-afternoon.  We could not have had a better weather weekend.

We really just hung out most of the day, or rather the party goers did.  It was so nice that we spent a good part of the morning outside, talking, drinking coffee and enjoying each other's company.  Elaine made a great breakfast of blueberry oatmeal with lots of toppings, all healthy of course so we had to remind her to get out the brown sugar.  After breakfast, Jim took me for a driving tour of the houses in Oak Park, quite an interesting amalgam of styles, many Frank Lloyd Wright's Prarie Style.  The city is a virtual museum of striking different homes, mostly built in the early 20th century.

We spent the afternoon sitting around the living room, after a lunch of a tasty African lentil soup along with leftovers from last night's dinner.  Three cousins arrived at about 3:30, two having to catch a flight back to Las Vegas at 6:00.  Elaine was able to drop them off at the airport and get home in time to get ready for our drive to Wrigley Field and the Cubs game at 6:00.  She's been an amazing host, fixing lunches and dinners as well as driving all of us around the Chicago area.  I think she may give a hearty hoorah when we all leave tomorrow.

We left for the 6:00 game at 5:30 and made pretty good time until we got within a mile and a half of the stadium and then it slowed down and there were no parking spaces or lots that we were aware of.  And parking on the street was illegal and you would be towed away if you tried.  Jennifer then got the bright idea to use Spot Hero, an internet app.  It had a parking space available behind a house for forty-five bucks so she took it, paid with her card on the app.

We had to walk about a half mile with lots of fans, past the stadium, the guys hawking tee shirts to Murphys Rooftop. The downstairs was crowded with fans watching the game on TV and they had at least five bars going at once.  We walked up four or five flights of stairs to the rooftop where we got a wrist pass which enabled us to free beer, brats, polish sausage, and burgers.  It was more a social occasion that watching the game although if we sat in the very top seats of the stands, we could see home plate.  It was a wonderful night for a ball game even though we could not see it well, just hear the roar of the crowd when the Cubs did something good,  We had fun talking with Evie' relatives, especially Claire and Henry, the groom's parents.

On the way home, unfortunately, we ran into another traffic jam so it took us longer than expected but we were able to spend quality time with each other as Elaine, the driver, kept saying.  We were home by 9:30, having left the game just after the seventh inning.  All were exhausted so we were upstairs by 10:15, ready for a good night.
