8:02 |
It's 8:00 and we have just had a few snow flurries but not much snow is expected. It's 22º and will not get much higher during the day but unlike yesterday, we will not get much sun, just overcast skies.
Bestor Plaza At The CI |
Yesterday was another day that makes us glad we live here on the lake in the winter, lots of sun and blue skies, hardly any wind. We were not, however, anxious to get out there early so we did not rush to get out in the cold air. Instead, we did something we dislike doing, defrosting our frost-free refrigerator. Yep, we have to defrost it every three or four months because the vents freeze up, a good reason to not buy a Samsung refrigerator by the way. The defrosting was made easier because of the freezing temperatures outside so most our stuff could be put out on the porch or in coolers. Once that was done, we decided the best way to enjoy the morning was to walk the snow-covered streets of the Chautauqua Institution. It was a good choice, safe to walk and scenic, as all the houses and landscaping were frosted with snow. We walked until we had enough then drove home by noon
Afternoon Cross Country Sking On The Lake |
We relaxed in our living room until we both got hungry. Evie made me an avocado sandwich on a bagel and we both had a bowl of minestrone soup. The rest of the afternoon was typical, so I won't repeat it again other than to say we were not busy. Around 3:30, I decided I could not pass on cross country skiing on a lake of white so off I went for forty-five minutes, down to Sandy Bottom and back. I skied out to a tent and talked with Amish ice fishermen, out there with his young son until it got dark, a brave guy.
When I returned, we put the refrigerator back together, and then Evie prepped our dinner around 6:00. She roasted some Brussel sprouts while yesterday's coq au vin heated up in the oven and made a salad. Dinner was just as good if not better than the night before. We watched another Real Time With Bill Maher, a boring Jeopardy, and an episode of The Good Fight.
