It's 6:15 as I start this and I will not be kayaking this morning because I have to get a few tests this morning so we are leaving around 7:30, not giving me enough time to get out on the lake, unfortunately. It's a quiet morning at this hour, not a boat on the lake, hardly a whisper of wind.
Yesterday was an interesting day, especially mid-afternoon when a flotilla of at least 50 boats flying Trump flags cruised down the lake. The day started out well, however, with a good paddle and a relaxing morning, like Sunday should be. We decided around 10:00 to go for a boat ride, hoping to avoid the crowd and chop and it was a good decision. We went south on the lake, as far as Cheney's Farm, then cruised home. It was another stellar day for boating and as we came home, the boats began to appear and by 3:00, it seemed as if anyone with a boat was on the lake.

On The Lake

I decided to work up an appetite for breakfast, so I went out in the lake and started cutting some weeds in our swimming area, quickly filling up a couple of buckets with weeds. Usually, we spend days doing this during past summers but since our kids were not coming, we basically forgot about it. I left them on the dock to dry and came into a big breakfast on the porch, the usual, eggs, bacon and a bagel. By the time we finished eating, it was 1:30 so Evie went out to enjoy the dock. I read some, napped briefly, watched some NBA on TV and quickly fell asleep again until 3:30 when I watched the flotilla of boats cruise by Long Point. It's difficult to understand such passion for such a man. Around 4:00, our neighbor's granddaughters kayaked over, wondering if they might see the Treasure Box. So they came ashore and went through the Treasure Chest on our porch, picking out three items although they had a hard time making decisions. They were a riot, always appreciative and fun,

We stayed out on the dock until 5:00 when we both took showers and got ready to drive to our friends, Linda and Rons for a Sunday night dinner. We enjoyed beers and appetizers in their yard, safely distanced, cooled by a breeze, and the shade of their great trees. We ate outside as well. Linda served stuffed tomatoes, spiced corn, and peaches with mascarpone for dessert. We sat out, enjoying our meal and wine until dusk. It was a good way to end the weekend, with friends, a great meal, and a lovely evening. We were home around 9:45, in time to watch some junk TV before going to bed.
