Lunch was Senate Bean soup with ham, tasty and authentic, with tuna fish on a bagel, a healthy lunch, lots of protein, little fat. I fast forwarded through Lebron's 46 point performance, stopping for bits and pieces. It was a great performance by Lebron, but when he takes over, the rest of the team seems to stand around, not knowing what to do with themselves. It's not encouraging, especially since the Cavs won by only a few points.
I finished Maise Dobbs BIRDS OF A FEATHER, looked for the next book and put it on hold. I then started a couple of other books, not sure what to read and stuck with Amor Towles (A Gentleman In Moscow) RULES OF CIVILITY. It's set in New York City in 1938. I am finally into it and will stick with it.
We knew that we wanted a dinner of scalloped potatoes and ham, a dinner from our childhood but we decided to see what a modern version might be. So we searched various websites and came up with one that sounded good even though we weren't sure it was the one our mother's made. This one not only had ham and potatoes but also milk and cheese, to make a bechamel sauce. It was ready to put in the oven around 5:30, so we relaxed with a glass of wine, again, as the sky opened up and we had some blue skies and sunshine.
I loved the dinner, rich and tasty and had a couple helpings to go along with a salad, with apples and feta cheese, for crunch and taste. We watched the next episode of THE AMERICANS, as Perestroika begins to influence the Cold war warriors like Carrie Russell. We ended the night with the third of four episodes of COLLATERAL on Netflix with Carrie Mulligan.
